When this trip to Boston was planned, there was no way to know just how much I would truly take away from it.
Lynn Terry and Chrissie were two great roommates. Lynn even wrote about our most comical moments in Boston.
We annoyed the locals, had a few “incidents”, were thrown out of a cab, were yelled at by a waiter, and didn’t have our first edible meal until Wednesday (we had all arrived on Monday morning).
But, despite all of that, I see another trip to Boston in my future. If I’m not mistaken, Lynn and Chrissie would also like to go back for a non-business trip.
Since it was my first time attending any PubCon event, I surely didn’t know what to expect. But was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a lot less scary than anticipated.
Luckily, most everyone we encountered were friendly and open to networking. And like many have said before us, the real networking doesn’t happen in the sessions.
Because I’m still in recovery mode, I’ve decided to do my Boston PubCon end notes in a series of entries to make it more manageable.
- Networking and Meeting People
- Individual Session Notes
- 17 Things I Learned At Boston PubCon That Can Be Applied To Future PubCon Events
As each part of the series is published, I will come back and update this entry with links.

I’m still in recovery mode myself
I look forward to seeing your upcoming posts! I am sure some of our posts will cross-over, but I also know you met different people and attended different sessions… so I cant wait to see what else I can pick up!

p.s. I’m definitely up for the “vacation”

I am still recovering too. And I feel like I am getting sick again but I don’t have time to be sick so its not an option.
I will have to try and make my posts a little different from the both of you. And that will be very hard since you both took such detailed notes and well I have some but not nearly as good.
Heck I need to borrow Teli’s from the link building session since I was feeling sick that morning and met up with you guys late. Not hung.over.sick.
And some of my favorite sessions were our own back at the hotel
Both business and pleausure but I will never tell

I second that!
Definitely some good “sessions”

You two ladies are hilarious.
I’m definitely up for a vacation, so let’s not forget about that. I could use a few more good “sessions”.
Lynn, I can’t wait to read what you wrote because I was glancing over a few times while you were writing and it looked like you got some great info.
I’m still trying to get all my notes in order - I think I have about 20 pages altogether (felt like college all over again).
Chrissie, I’m sending some good vibes your way so you don’t get sick again.

I imagine it will take me all week to blog my notes lol. There is so much to add to it, since after the sessions we had the opportunity to TALK to various speakers/people and get even more insight and resources. It should be fun to blog about, though.
As for the vacation - I say we set a date. I’m already itching to go back!
I’ll be in Orlando in July for the Affiliate Summit, of course Vegas in November for the next PubCon… and am considering SES in San Jose in August. Not to mention I have that “week off” the second week of June.
Can you work around all that somehow? I’ll just leave my bags packed - hahaha
