I signed up with Aweber because the reviews for its service have been constantly glowing for the year that I’ve been reading about them.
I opted for the annual plan which includes an unlimited number of e-mail lists, auto-responder messages, and e-mails per month (yes, I was feeling rather ambitious) and I’ve spent most of the last month clicking around and getting a feel for it.
First, the layout is not like a typical newsletter management administration panel. I’d go so far as to say it’s not very intuitive.
The help section seems somewhat disorganized and one must be prepared for a serious learning curve.
Now that we’ve gotten the negatives out of the way…
Aweber did something I never expected. They sent me a letter and gave me a phone call. It wasn’t a pre-recorded message - it was an actual human being.
I know part of it falls into the grey area of marketing and customer retention, but it was a very nice touch.
After the learning curve has straightened itself out, I can say that I’m happy with my decision. While I won’t abandon my more traditional methods of newsletter management (custom script) any time soon, Aweber is certainly a welcome addition.
And, just for reference, I plan to publish a more in depth overview and review of Aweber, hopefully translating their help section into plain English for those who may be completely new to its service.

Hi,
You give a review of the service and you don`t give an explanation of what it does apart from the header. You said you opted for the annual plan but don`t describe what it contains.
I`m trying to give you constructive criticism. I think you should rewrite this article.
Best wishes
Simon

Hi Simon,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
This isn’t an actual review of Aweber - it’s simply my initial thoughts when I signed up with them.
As I mentioned at the end, I do plan to write up a full review/overview of Aweber after I’ve been using it a little longer and can give everyone my full opinions of the service. Side Note: The entry is actually in draft now.
And for anyone who’s wondering - annual plans come with an unlimited number of everything except subscribers (it’s $9.95 for each additional 10,000).
If you have any other input, I’m all ears. Again, thank you for stopping by and commenting.
