I know exactly what you mean about being alone amongst a sea of others. Besides, we wont be seeing much of our room while there anyway :p haha As for 'being able to hang' - we'll have to stick together. I'm not much of a drinker, myself... but I've heard there's usually plenty of that going on LOL Outside of the fun to be had, and the cool meet-ups, these PubCon events are supposed to be major brainstorming sessions and insanely motivating.
