It was announced that PayPerPost has acquired Performancing:

PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers, videographers, photographers, podcasters and social networks, today announced it has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire select assets of Performancing LLC, operator of Performancing.com, a popular Internet community site for professional bloggers.

PayPerPost Press Release (The old press release link mysteriously disappeared)

One important note in the above press release is that it’s a Letter of Intent. While it’s assumed to be a done deal, barring some strange circumstances, it hasn’t been finalized. Aside from that detail, something else jumped out at me:

Two assets PayPerPost has not agreed to acquire include the Performancing for Firefox blog editor technology and the Performancing Partners ad technology.

Although Performancing is a flourishing community, and has grown quickly since its launch, one of the contributing factors for its continued growth is the Firefox plugin. The last thing mentioned was a new version making its way out. But, with this recent acquisition, what does it mean for the future development and support for the plugin? Not knowing could make some users jump ship.

It will also be interesting to see if the vibe of Performancing changes or if things will remain, relatively, similar.
