It seems there has been a shake up in the blogosphere — Jason Calacanis is leaving AOL. Jason was one of the blog network pioneers, selling Weblogs, Inc. to AOL Time Warner last year for a hefty price tag.
News of his leaving is certainly shocking, but not surprising after learning that CEO, Jonathan Miller, was replaced. (It’s kind of messed up, though, that Jason only learned of the news through a reporter.)
As for what to make of the treatment of Mr. Miller, who discovered he was being replaced after a reporter called AOL asking about Mr. Falco’s appointment…
This whole incident only reinforces what I’ve been saying for years: there is no such thing as job security. One can only speculate on what this means for AOL, but something tells me they’ll bounce back — eventually.
(Note, the story was first broken by Michael Arrington on TechCrunch.)
